The 2008 Single Speed Cyclo Cross World Chamiponships was the last bicycle race I did this year living in Portland, OR. My GAWD! What an event!
Check it! All the best pictures of me cyclocross racing are coming out on the web. A co-worker had to tell me about this one. I am picture #23 on the Rainier slideshow! Getting some nice air! I am going to have to buy a print of that one! And if you look in the comments, my old friend and co-worker at the PSU Daily Vanguard, Rob Kerr (who now works at the Bend Bulletin), recognized me! I have not scene him in probably four years!
I LOVE CROSS!
Hot Lips Pizza worked the 2008 Cycle Oregon
This was our second year of working Cycle Oregon, and while everything was not all roses, it still was a great time. I did four days of riding (Day 1, Day 2 (long option), Day 4 (long option), and Day 5 (long option). That was about 305 miles on four days of riding. The last day was the hardest at around 85 miles and 7,500 feet of climbing from Halfway to the Hells Canyon Overlook and out to Joesph and the Wallowa Lake Campground.
It really is amazing to see in person! Especially when a falcon swoops through for a little snack!
The 2008 Tour de Cure
Elder Billy, Kurt and Keith head towards Timberline Lodge early on the 2008 Tour de Cure century
Pablo was one of the few Red Riders to ride the 2008 Tour de Cure century
We have done some EPIC rides this season. Cherry of a Ride, Tour de Blast, and this was the peak at Timberline Lodge during the Tour de Cure cenutry August 13th.
Kurt and Billy were at Timberline Lodge on the other side of the mountain just a few hours earlier.
We all agreed that the Tour de Cure was one of the most scenic centurys that we have done. And one of the hardest with almost 10,000 feet of total climbing.
The sweet on my back dried in the heat of the day and left salt on my jersey
We made the last bus out of Hood River after a very hot, dry and hard 100 miles from Welches, up to Timberline Lodge, down to Hood River and out to Rowena and back to Hood River. The last time the Tour de Cure is going to make that route.
Next weekend, Kurt, Billy and I are making our second annual ride over to the coast via the Nestucca River Byway.
